Sterilize Microorganisms with a Germicidal UV Lamp

Ultraviolet light is why you get sunburned after spending too much time outside. The shorter wavelength that keeps UV light invisible to our eyes also enhances its energy. This energy is sufficient to damage the molecular bonds of genetic material, like that of microorganisms such as mildew and bacteria. The changes may outright eradicate microbes or simply stop them from replicating, but the benefits are mostly similar.

It’s best to install UV lights directly into your HVAC system. While air flows through during a heating or cooling cycle, airborne microbes are exposed to the UV light while they move past. You can preserve balanced temperatures while also increasing air quality. And given that the germicidal lamp is restricted to your air ducts, you never have to worry about being affected by the UV rays.

A UV light placed within the ductwork is known as an air sanitizing light, and is most effective for microbes already airborne. A new air sanitizing light is frequently integrated with the HVAC system’s blower motor, where the light only lights up during an active heating or cooling cycle.

There are also lights made for specific HVAC hardware like the condenser coils on your air conditioner. Quality coil sanitizing lights should help keep mold and mildew from utilizing the coils’ condensation.
